AUGUST 2, 2015
Our visit here in Prior Lake, MN has been wonderful. Erica arrived a day early to surprise Phil, which she did last night! It is great having the four of us together; it has been since September 2014 that we have been. I had to keep my thinking cap on when talking to Phil the past few days, as I did not want to blow the surprise Erica intended, which thank goodness I and Thom was able to do! It was a nice reunion.
The weather has been cooperating thus far during our stay here in MN. A chance of a thunderstorm with severe winds and possible hail was forecasted for midnight through 1:00 a.m. this morning but that report turned false. When this happens, you are glad the weatherman or woman got it wrong!
Yesterday we joined Phil, Zuly, Erica, and his friends from work Josh, Nate, Ken, and Ken's wife Natalie at the local racetrack. This is something we don't normally do but it was a lot of fun, especially with this group. I ended up winning $2.80, which was actually an 80 cents win since the ticket was $2.00! I am not big into betting on the horses and am amazed as to how much money folks actually take out of their budgets to do so! I am not such a risk taker!
After the races, we headed to the Mystic Casino, which is where our campground is (Dakota Meadows RV Park). The plan was to play Cosmic Bingo, which I have to say I don't know how anyone could hear the Bingo caller; it was so noisy from music being blared during the 6 games. Thank goodness they put the Bingo balls being called on the screen so you could see what ball was being called. We did not win but Phil's friend Nate won $100 on the second game! Good for Nate! I must admit, as I play Bingo regularly at Summer Glen, I am ready to get back to my Thursday night routine. I had a lot of fun playing and thought about home and my new life there and am ready to return.
But, before we head home, we have lots to do here first! Today (Sunday) we are headed to a Minnesota Twins-Seattle Mariners game! Tomorrow (Monday) we are going to the Minnesota Zoo. Tuesday we have a dinner cruise planned on the St. Croix River. Wednesday, unfortunately, Erica will fly to Nashville, TN to meet up with her friend Kelly, where they will then fly to Las Vegas to see Brittney Spears!
Also on Wednesday, we will have our new 15,000 BTU air conditioner installed in the motorhome! We have not turned off zone one's air conditioner due to the fear it won't start up again! Thank goodness the heat index here is not in the "red zone" and it has been quite pleasant.
During the past week and after much ping-pong going on in Thom's head, he has decided to give the football season another try in Marion County. I have to say, I knew he would make that decision, as he so enjoys doing so. He has let the powers that be know and they look forward to having him on the schedule. Fingers are crossed for a much better season two!
With that being said, we have shored up our return to Florida plans. We will be leaving here on August 10th and will arrive at SummerGlen on August 22nd. We will be visiting some friends along the way including our dear friends from Decorah, Iowa (Donna and Dick Brown) and in Griffin, GA (Jon and Terry Senical).
Until next blog (with photos) ...
