LARKSPUR, COLORADO - DAY 3

May 29, 2015

Our day in photos as we traveled a few back roads around Larkspur, Colorado!

Santa Fe Railroad

Another view from a distance of Pike's Peak.

And another!

The trains in this area are long and numerous, sometimes 2 on a track waiting for clearance or to change tracks! This was not as bad as Wellington, KS, thank goodness!

Rosie's Diner, Monument, Colorado

Thom the gentleman waiting for the photographer so he can open the door!

Me and my friend Stephanie from San Antonio, TX who I met in Alaska! She and her husband Randy are camped in a different campground and I had no idea they would be here when we were! What a treat! We will see them again in Iowa in July!

Along the roadway in Monument I spotted prairie dogs!

I see you!

I saw this bird in the distance and wasn't sure I would capture it but I kind of did.

This was actually take 5 of this bird!

Out in the distance along I-25 West sits this rock formation.

Thom nearly lost it when he saw this Sunbeam Tiger, circa 1965, parked with all this trash around it! If he could, he would have offered to take it off their hands!

Yes, I am a beast - just look at my horns!

This is just one of the fabulous cattle/horse ranches we saw today.

This ranch (above) has a saddle outside. I wonder if it's just in case someone needs one, a cowboy passing by.

There are these lovely orange-red flowers growing along the road. So pretty. This photo does not do it justice.

Simply beautiful Colorado scenery!

Noe Road, near Larkspur, Colorado. This was a great road to drive down.

Another lucky shot, take 6!

This deer could care less that we were coming up the hill until we got just a bit closer.

This is a zoomed in photo of what we were wondering were cliff dwellings.

Of all things - a camel!

I found this landscaping to be so pretty.

What a house - mansion - ranch, out in the middle of nowhere!

The owners of the above property have several bison.

One of several baby bison!

I love the face of a bison!

We were traveling along, and I have a tendency to look up, and I saw an elk, so I told Thom to slow down, slow down, and we turned around. I wasn't sure if we would find it but we did! It was zoomed in and we weren't sure if the photo would be clear enough, but it is.

Then another elk appeared! It was a lucky day for us for sure!

Fort Larkspur is what is written on a sign near the house but I can't find anything on it, and you can't get to the sign to actually fully read the history.

Raspberry Butte, across the Jellystone Campground, where we stayed.

Raspberry Butte zoomed in.

Yogi

My husband posing with Yogi!

I always look at the ground when I'm walking and this is what I found!

Something I found interesting.

Lot 163

I am becoming a bird watcher, take 4.

Greenery around our site.

The skies most of the day were clear, absolutely beautiful.

But this is what happened on our way to the baseball game in Colorado Springs! We decided to skip the game after a very unforgettable dinner with our friends Paul and Ann! It was great fun!

Tomorrow we head to Canon City, Colorado for a few days, to take a look at Royal Gorge!

Until next blog ...
