HAPPY 26TH BIRTHDAY TO OUR SON PHILIP!
FINALLY - May 11th is here and we are on our way to parts known and unknown in this great country of ours!
We left our lovely home in Ocala and headed north on I-75 and then west on I-10. The traffic on both interstate highways was not so bad although I-75 was a bit more congested and crazier at times! We have driven west on I-10 before and each time we appreciate this part of Florida more and more with its rolling hills and trees. At times you would not think you were in Florida; you could be in anywhere USA.
This journey is one of few reservations; an itinerary that is open except for a few stops that required us to do so (Deer Park, WA; Libby, MT; Columbia Falls, MT; Forest City, IA; and, Prior Lake, MN). Not planning our every day stops was a challenge for me, as I need to know when and where as much as possible, but not this time; we are winging it day by day and hopefully we will make it to those places we are supposed to be!
Our first stop, believe it or not, is in a Wal-Mart shopping center in Crestview, FL. We are not alone, as another RV just pulled in for the evening as well! We learned during our trip to Alaska that many folks park it for a free night here and there so we decided to give it a try!
As we sit here in the parking lot, watching Dancing With the Stars, it does not seem any different than in a campground except our slides are not out. Thom is on his laptop and I am on mine. Fritz and Jake are settled in somewhere and seem quite content to be on the road again! Life is good!
Until I post tomorrow - somewhere!
