Greetings and good morning from Crestview Wal-Mart Parking Lot! Yes, it is 4:54 a.m. CST as I start this early morning blog. Why you might ask? Well, let me count the ways! LOL!
Our first night parking in luxurious accommodations has been a challenge, the biggest of which is the 18-wheeler right next door to us. He was here when we arrived and had no idea he would be here all night long. He needs a place to rest, too, so we understand. We think there are 3 other RVs parked in this lovely parking lot!
Another challenge is the fact that I did not listen to my husband before we left Ocala when I was packing our CPAP equipment. Yes, Thom and I both have obstructive sleep apnea and we do use our CPAP equipment every night. I ordered new masks for us and I simply tossed the new packaged ones in the RV and off we went. Thom had suggested I bring the existing older ones "just in case" but I disagreed, because "these were new". Big mistake. His mask is fine but mine was the wrong style (nasal cannula versus face). I tried the nasal cannula but I could not even breathe. So today we will look for a medical supply store and see if we can find the style I like. I will also be calling OxyPros in Stuart and giving them a talking to!
The biggest challenge is the fact that we have spoiled ourselves and have always opted for a campground, RV resort, and not Wal-Mart or any other large parking area stores who allow RV parking! There is an etiquette to this type of camping, which includes not running your generator after 10 p.m. and not putting your slides out. No problem, right? Wrong! When it came to retiring last night, we both could not sleep in our bed because the wardrobe slide would have had to be opened. Since my side of the bed is close to the mirrored wardrobe, I took the couch, or I should say couches. We opened up the futon and then reclined the adjacent couch but it was just not comfortable. I tossed and turned and then tossed and turned some more. And, being that I had the 18-wheeler right outside my window, it was noisy all night long. Still not as bad as the trains we usually encounter, but noisy nonetheless.
The dry camping does not bother me. I think we can do this again and will probably attempt it, I just don't know where or when. Thom has been looking for our next stop but we don't know where that will be as yet; hey, it's 5 a.m. now! But, I do know this ... we will be stopping somewhere to take a nap. This is the adventure part of this journey ... the not knowing. I'm excited and anxious at the same time but know there will be a lot of laughs while trying to figure this "winging it" thing out!
Have a great day, and I will keep you posted on where the highway leads us to today!
Bonnie, I had a problem getting your blog yesterday and sent you a message about it but was able to get on today. Ed is trying to read it too so you might want to invite him if you haven't already. It sounds as if you are having fun along with the adventure part of the trip. I was going to create a blog but saw that it cost money so decided not to. I am on as Traveling the US of A in an RV. Don't laugh. Ed and I were trying figure out what to call the blog and that is what we came up with. Safe travels and have lots of those laughs you talked about.
ReplyDeleteI sent you an e-mail Shirley. I love "Traveling the US of A in an RV"! I did not laugh but had a big smile when I read that!
