We had a very easy 62 mile trip today from Gunnison to Montrose. We had to cross Cerro Summit (elevation 8042) from Gunnison (elevation 7703), making this a much easier drive than getting to Gunnison via Monarch Pass! The photos below are of our drive this afternoon. There are so many lakes here, as well as terrain changes. Enjoy the drive!
US Highway 50 West, leaving Gunnison
There are so many lakes on this stretch of the highway!
And, the road is mostly flat!
Sapinero, CO - driver change - Thom took it from here. His photos above are postcard quality!
Montrose, CO - We actually relaxed when we got here and enjoyed the great outdoors!
The sunset this evening!
Tomorrow we have an appointment to have the Jeep checked. Two or three times the ABS light has come on and the cruise control cancels out. It is also due for an oil change. We will explore Montrose on foot and then continue to relax outdoors weather permitting. There are conflicting weather alerts - some say rain, some say sunshine!
This weekend we will head to Ouray and then Silverton, two areas of Colorado we have not been to in a very long time. It will be great to rediscover these two small towns again.
We are almost a month into our summer journey and so far so good even with all the weather bumps! Colorado has been a great part of the trip thus far. The cats are doing well and I wonder what they're thinking! I do know they are being entertained by the birds!
Until next blog ...
