MONTROSE, COLORADO - DAY 2

June 5, 2015

Hello and happy Friday!

Our day in Montrose, Colorado was spent in the local Jeep dealership's service center! The Jeep needed an oil change; the ABS light and auto-skid light needed attending to, which required replacing a wheel speed sensor; and, we learned our back brakes needed replacing. So, with the help of "Bob" our driver for the day, compliments of Flowers Jeep, we were able to do a walking tour of the downtown historical area of Montrose. This dealership provides transportation to anywhere in Montrose while having your vehicle serviced there. And, the folks there are so nice and accommodating!

Our first stop, on our first outing, was to The Shanty for breakfast. After breakfast we window shopped and checked out the local artists' work, which is abundant. We were probably downtown for a few hours and then headed back to the dealership.

Our second outing, around 2:30 p.m., Bob took us out for our lunch/supper to a new Mexican restaurant - El Mexico - which was also very good. Thom was able to relax with a margarita and I downed 2 glasses of cold water after eating the very delicious but hot salsa! The furnishings at this restaurant are the most vibrant I have ever seen.

The weather was a bit wet and cooler today and it doesn't look to be much better tomorrow although this evening the sun came out! There was a local antique car show scheduled this evening and I wonder if they were able to get through it. We believe we have one of the show trucks in lot next to us. Trust me, we have heard that truck come and go more than a few times this evening! And, it has neon blue lights in its grill.

We have plans tomorrow to drive the Million Dollar Highway, Route 550, to Ouray and Silverton. We shall see. We will not attempt the drive if the weather is an issue. Sunday's weather is supposed to improve so we may be doing that drive then.

Today's long day at the Jeep dealership was in my opinion a "road block". It honestly gave us no choice but to slow down. We had our laptop and iPAD with us and a great Internet connection so we had something to keep us occupied other than a few shows of Bonanza when we weren't walking Montrose. We were there at 8:30 a.m. and didn't get home until 3:30 p.m.

I do have some photos but I will post them tomorrow. The Internet here at the KOA knows I am downloading "something" because I get kicked off and/or it just goes slower than molasses in the winter time (as my Dad would say), and I'm trying to reserve our WiFi usage!

Until next blog ...
